THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE CREATOR

Regular Meeting of the Vestry

Present:  Bob Blanton, Priest in Charge; Ross Turner (Senior Warden); Austin Onyia (Junior Warden); Tommy Mills (Treasurer); John Lanford; Jennifer Duncan; Beth Braley; and Dianne Martin (Clerk)

Call to Order:  Ross called the meeting to order and led the opening prayer at 6:32 P.M.

Approval of Minutes from Last Vestry Meeting:  John made a motion to accept the August meeting minutes as corrected. Tommy seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Treasurer Report

Tommy reported that in August we showed $8,514 in revenues and $9,688.52 in expenditures resulting in a net of -$1,174.62 for the month.  We have 2.59 months in reserve.

Jr. Warden Report

The air conditioner in the sacristy has not been fixed.  Clinton Refrigeration also needs to determine whether the problem with the light in the women’s restroom is due to an air conditioning leak.  Beth needs Clinton Refrigeration to do this work when she is there to observe.  She will send them a text to them to that effect.

Austin has cleaned out the flower beds.

Old Business

Clean-out and Insulation of Storage Room.

We still need to take care of the insulation and clean-out of the storage room in the Education Building.   Beth suggested that we let those who formerly taught Children’s Sunday School have first option at taking anything they want from that storage room.  We will offer whatever is left first to church members and then to AA group members.  Any items remaining after that will go to the 4 C’s.

New Business

Sunday School Starting Up Again

Deborah Runyan will begin teaching Children’s Sunday School on September 25th.  Pastor Bob will begin teaching Adult Sunday School that same day.  Emanuella, Molly, and Dianne will also teach Children’s Sunday School on various Sundays.

Outreach

We will ask for 4 children from the Salvation Army Angel Tree program this year.  Dianne will disseminate information on the particulars after she receives it from the Salvation Army.

Austin brought up many great ideas concerning outreach such as having an interactive Bible Study via our website and having an annual event.  Bob said we will discuss these ideas during Sunday School.

Safe Harbor Church

The Children’s House on Clinton-Raymond Road will begin open enrollment in January and February.  Pastor Shelli has asked for our help in advertising for the preschool.  We will get the Clinton Courier to add some preschool information to our ad in the November, January, and February editions.  We also have two 1/3-page ads per year to which we may add some preschool information.  Also, our website has a link to the preschool’s website.

Safe Harbor will hang signs on the Education building in the middle of October.  We will need to see the signs first.

Safe Harbor will have a Trunk or Treat Celebration on October 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  They have invited Creator to attend.  Costumes may be worn, if desired.  They are planning on having a short movie and the adults should bring candy for the children.

The next Vestry Meeting will be held October 17, 2022, at 6:30 PM.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:28 P.M.
