Nourishment for Body and Soul
Nourishment for Our Souls…
At Creator we participate in many communal activities. One of the most important is the Eucharist. We call the meal the Eucharist because we eat and drink in a spirit of thanksgiving (Eucharist means “thanksgiving” in Greek). We are thankful and celebrate the Eucharist as an Easter Resurrection meal. Sunday after Sunday the risen Christ comes to us as God in flesh—hidden in the ordinary food and drink of this world.
LEGACY COLLECT:
Gracious God, you have planted us in this place, a people shaped by grace and bound together in love. Strengthen our trust in your goodness, that we might give with joyful hearts, and serve as signs of your love in our community. Bless the gifts we offer, that through them, your people may continue our work in the world you so love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. AMEN.
And for Our Bodies…
On Sundays after mass, we share in fellowship and food during our Coffee Hour.
On Sunday, August 9th, Barry Moore made us some very delicious sugar cookies.
Barry’s Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
2 ¾ cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 cup of butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl.
- In a large bowl, blend the butter and sugar until smooth. Add in egg and vanilla and mix them in.
- Stir the dry ingredients into the large bowl one spoonful at a time.
- Once the dough is all mixed, sprinkle some flour on a table and use a rolling pin to roll out the dough. Use cookie cutters to cut out the cookies.
- Place all the cookies onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
- Take cookies out of the oven and let them sit for two minutes on the cookie sheets.
- Take cookies off cookie sheets and put them on wire racks to cool.
- After they are cool, you can decorate them if you want.
